– Lets talk about the progress for a little bit, Creative Evangelist at Google, Jeremey Tai Abbett said during his talk at the Social Media Days in Oslo.

Abbett said that when we think about the future versus the past, we have made a huge step forward.

– We keep moving forward. Here are some examples of today´s progress, he said.

– We are living two times more than we used to. I believe our young generations can live to be 140, or 150 years old if they want to.

– We see a huge improvement in child mortality.

– Cost of food has gotten down ten times.

– Cost of transportation, unless you live in London.

– The cost of communication is down by a thousand times. Here you can see a typical picture of two college girls who are extremely focused on other things than themselves. You can see a clear change in peoples behaviour.

– So when people are like, “oh yeah, in the future what is it going to be like versus the past”, it is hard to say, but in the end I think our lives will be a lot better, Abbett said.

– What is important today is the youth. They have the biggest stake in our future direction, he said. – For a glimpse of the future look at how children grow up today rather than technology.
